From the Director

Dear members,

With summer in full swing, it’s the perfect time to visit the High for fun with friends and family and to find rest and relaxation in our galleries.

In June, we opened an exhibition from the Colby College Museum of Art in Maine featuring late artist Bob Thompson’s beautiful paintings, which were often inspired and inventive reinterpretations of the works of European Old Masters. In July, we’ll present Off the Grid, an exhibition drawing from the Museum’s collecting areas and featuring works by an incredibly diverse group of artists, including Gee’s Bend quilters, who all engage with “the grid.”

We’re thrilled to be welcoming designer Stephen Burks for an exhibition surveying his impressive and innovative career. I hope you’ll also join us for the final weeks of What Is Left Unspoken, Love and Oliver Jeffers: 15 Years of Picturing Books.

On the horizon, our popular craft cocktail competition Highball returns in August, and you can check out a full schedule of Friday Jazz performers in the public programs section of this publication.

I look forward to seeing you at the Museum soon and often.
